Child Care (Amendment) Bill 2019 in Dáil Éireann
Sponsored by: Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Katherine Zappone (Independent)
Source: Government
Originating House: Dáil Éireann
Official Description :
Bill entitled an Act to amend and extend the law in relation to guardians ad litem appointed under the Child Care Act 1991; and for those and other purposes to amend the Child Care Act 1991, the Children Act 2001, the Mental Health Act 2001, the National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Act 2012 and the Children First Act 2015 and to repeal section 26 of the Child Care Act 1991 and certain provisions of the Child Care (Amendment) Act 2011; to increase the membership of the Board of the Child and Family Agency; and for that purpose, to amend the Child and Family Agency Act 2013; and to provide for related matters.
Expanded Description :
The principal objective of the Bill is to extend the guardian ad litem system so that it benefits the greatest number of children and young people, and to ensure that a high quality and sustainable service is provided into the future.
Guardian ad litem arrangements for children who are the subject of public law child care proceedings are currently provided for under section 26 of the Child Care Act 1991. The Bill proposes to replace the limited provision in section 26 and insert a new Part into the 1991 Act for the purpose of regulating the existing ad hoc system of guardian ad litem appointments.
It is intended that the guardian ad litem will enhance the decision-making capacity of the court in child care proceedings. The core functions of the guardian ad litem will be to inform the court of any views which the child wishes to express and to advise the court on what, in his or her professional opinion, is in the child’s best interests.
The national guardian ad litem service will be provided from an Executive Office within the Department of Children and Youth Affairs. The Executive Office will be responsible for: providing the guardian ad litem service to the courts; monitoring the performance of guardians ad litem, and providing legal advice and arranging legal representation for a guardian ad litem where required.
Costing projections indicate that the proposed guardian ad litem service can be provided within existing resources and the restructuring of the service will provide scope to extend the service to all children who are the subject of child care proceedings within the current expenditure envelope. Investment Limited Partnerships (Amendment) Bill 2019 in Dáil Éireann
Sponsored by: Minister for Finance, Paschal Donohoe (FG)
Source: Government
Originating House: Dáil Éireann
Official Description :
Bill entitled an Act to amend and extend the Investment Limited Partnerships Act 1994 and the Irish Collective Asset-management Vehicles Act 2015 and to provide for related matters.
Expanded Description :
An Investment Limited Partnership (ILP) is a regulated common law partnership structure that does not have a separate legal personality. ILPs are tailored specifically for investment in a collective investment fund.
An ILP is formed under the Investment Limited Partnership Act 1994 and established on receiving authorisation by the Central Bank of Ireland (Central Bank). An ILP is constituted according to the limited partnership agreement entered into by one or more general partner(s), who manage the business of the partnership, and any number of limited partners.
An ILP is “tax transparent”, preventing double taxation and ensuring that the fund or its investors will not be in a worse-off position after investing through the fund than they would have been if they invested in the underlying company or asset directly. The assets and liabilities are deemed to be held directly by the investors in proportion to their individual investment and the investors are subject to the tax rules in their home jurisdiction in respect of any tax charge, relief or allowances available as they arise.
In an ILP, the general partner is responsible for managing the business of the ILP and is ultimately liable for the debts and obligations of the ILP to the extent the ILP does not have sufficient assets. The general partner must: (i) be authorised by the Central Bank to act as a general partner; or (ii) avail of the right to manage an Irish alternative investment fund (AIF) on a cross-border basis under the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD).
The ILP Act has been in use since 1994 and it is widely acknowledged that it is needs to be updated to fit the environment and clientele to which it is aimed. There have been huge changes in the financial area in the past 25 years and this revision is aimed both at modernising the legislation and also achieving the Government’s aim set out in “IRELAND FOR FINANCE - Strategy for the development of Ireland’s international financial services sector to 2025” to make Ireland a global location for private equity funds.

Probation act and Garda vetting

So I've to get garda vetting shortly as I was planning on working with vulnerable people. I was given the benefit of the Probation Act a few years ago after being caught with about a gram of weed, and I was under the impression that under section 14a of the National Vetting Bureau act that a probation act order that wasnt under indictment at a district court wouldn't be disclosed during vetting, but I had someone say to me recently that everything on your record including things you were only charged but not convicted for will come back on the vetting form. Is this person misinformed or is this true, can anybody clear this up for me? Thanks

FAI Statement on Child Welfare issues

Following allegations of child abuse in football in the United Kingdom, the Football Association of Ireland would like to advise on the numerous avenues of support currently in place.
In accordance with the FAI Child Welfare Policy, members of the FAI who are advised, suspect or are concerned that a child may be at risk of abuse are obliged to report these concerns to TUSLA and the relevant Designated Child Officer of their Affiliated Member body.
In the event of an emergency where a child is believed to be in immediate danger, the Statutory Authorities should be alerted as a matter of urgency. This may be done through any Garda station. All child abuse investigations will be dealt with by the Statutory Authorities, with the support of the FAI.
The FAI has been in contact with Barnardo's and One-In-Four, and both agencies are available to work with the Association.
The FAI has previously informed all member clubs, leagues and stakeholders of the requirement to comply with the statutory regulations laid out in National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Act 2012 to ensure all adults working with children have received Garda vetting.
Earlier this year, the FAI wrote to each of its affiliates to remind them that organisations had been advised that Garda vetting will be a legal requirement from April 29, 2016.
Garda vetting has been an FAI Rule for all those working with children and or vulnerable persons (in a paid or voluntary capacity) for a number of years and this legislation placed existing FAI practices on a statutory footing.
The FAI Child Welfare Department continues to engage with all stakeholders to ensure they are kept up to date with statutory safeguarding requirements on an ongoing basis and works with An Garda Síochana to process vetting applications comprehensively in an appropriate time frame.
For any adult who has experienced abuse in childhood, the HSE National Counselling Service for adults provides counselling and support, free of charge. A list of National counselling service branches can be found here.
In addition, the FAI has been in contact with its counterparts in the English Football Association (The FA) and the Irish Football Association. The FA has commissioned a dedicated NSPCC helpline for adults who were victims of sexual abuse in childhood within the football industry. The helpline will be available 24 hours a day on 0044 800 023 2642.
The FAI remains committed to ensuring that all children can participate in all football activities in a safe and secure environment.
The FAI Child Welfare Department can be contacted for further information on [email protected] while the FAI's Child Welfare Policy can be viewed here.

Flatten the Curve. Part 75. Let's talk once more about Aliens. And training for Underground Warfare. And Riot Control. And unexplained drones. And did you know that they had reported the smell of sulfur with UFO's? Real or Fake, this may just be in our New Normal future.

Previous Post Here
Welcome back earthlings. Let's take another look at Terra Firma and our present chances of First Contact, shall we?

Flatten the Curve

I first started writing this series because I noticed inconsistencies and over looked current events, namely, the world wide reports of a distinct sulfur smell around the world. These reports aren't easy to find in search engines, and it took me a number of weeks before I convinced myself that something was happening worldwide that was being kept hidden from us. Flatten the Curve post on sulfur. Source Here
Back then I became convinced that this was part of an ELE that we were going to face in the future. And while the odds remain firmly with that explanation, another possibility has entered into the scenario. What's the possibility?Whelp, hold on to your tinfoil hats;

UFO's

Hold up, back up, this isn't normal New Normal stuff. And you're right, it isn't. Not at all. And trust me, even I'm in disbelief over what I've seen. But maybe I shouldn't have been.
Why?
Because of some strangeness that happened after the first sulfur post. Because after that post, I received a few strange comments or private messages. I can't remember which it was, but I think it was comments, so if you're interested to verify, go back and check (if those comments are still up, because I had an unusually high number of deleted comments back then, and maybe I still do, but I don't know and I don't care.) So what were the comments about? They pointed out to me that a high number of UFO sightings also happened to coincide with the smell of sulfur. Which I thought was nuts. I had read books about UFO sightings as a little kid. A lot of books. And I didn't remember reading that once. And I thought that I would have.

I was wrong

Now, I don't know who sent me that first UFO and sulfur hint. But I will say, that was strange. Very strange. And I should have looked into it. But I didn't. Why? Because that wasn't what I thought was happening, that's why. Despite the tic tac video. And then that report came out about the not of this world material. And I ignored it. And then I started seeing more and more UFO reports, and I finally decided to search sulfur + UFO, and surprise, surprise, nothing. So I kept searching, and guess what, it was exactly like my experience trying to find the sulfur reports; the info is there, but you have to dig to find it.
Now I don't have a lot of information, mainly because there are more pressing issues to write about, but I will keep looking in my spare time. So for now, let's start at the sulfur reports.
(Seriously, I'm still wondering what on earth has happened to Normal, because I'm not a fan of this movie script)

Aliens Stink Like Uranus

Get it? Becaue Uranus has hydrogen sulfide...
FalconLake Then there was the smell. "When I walked into the bedroom there was a huge stink in the room, like a real horrible aroma of sulphur and burnt motor. It was all around and it was coming out of his pores. It was bad," said Michalak, who co-authored the book When They Appeared with Winnipeg UFO researcher Chris Rutkowski. Believing it to be a secret U.S.military experimental craft, Stefan sat back and sketched it over the next half hour. Then he decided to approach, later recalling the warm air and smell of sulphur as he got closer, as well as a whirring sound of motors and a hissing of air. Source Here
Did you notice the sulfur smell? Now let's go on and take another look at the East coast of Canada.
Then there was Shag Harbor Source Here
And now onto Cussac.
On Aug. 29, 1967, a 13-year-old boy and his 9-year-old sister told local police they were watching cows in a field and saw "four small black beings about 47 inches tall" who appeared to rise in the air and enter "a round spaceship, about 15 feet in diameter" that was hovering over the field. The police noted "sulfur odor and the dried grass" at the place where the sphere was alleged to have taken off. Source Here
And West Virginia.
On a steep hillside, a bevy of youngsters drawn away from a game of sandlot football, along with some adults, were shaken out of their shoes by the spectacle of a 12-foot, metallic object that emanated a pungent odor of sulfur and made sounds that reminded one witness of bacon sizzling in a fry pan. Source Here
And the last one is perhaps the strangest.
Bender’s message did not go over well. His rooms continued to fill with the smell of sulphur and he was telepathically ordered to cease delving into matters that were not his concern. A yellow mist gathered in the attic. Undeterred, Bender announced that the July issue of Space Review would hold a “startling revelation.” It never appeared in print. In July 1953 Albert Bender was visited at his home by three men. Bender stated “All of them were dressed in black clothes. They looked like clergymen but wore hats similar to [the]Homburg style.” The notorious Men In Black, always in threes, made it clear to Bender that he was to immediately halt all UFO work. They communicated telepathically: “Stop publishing.” Before departing, the MIB confiscated copies of Space Review and in their wake a yellow fog materialized in the upstairs rooms of 784 Broad Street. Again, the vile odor of sulphur wafted through the attic. Unnerved by their other-worldly presence Albert shuddered that he was “scared to death” and was unable to eat for days. The 32 year-old timekeeper would be the recipient of repeated MIB visits. The telepathic messages, headaches, his being stalked, and of course the surreal warnings by authoritarians in black suits, compelled Albert to shut down the International Flying Saucer Bureau. A year and a half after founding the IFSB the final issue of Space Review was released in October, 1953. It included a cryptic message, and warning: “The mystery of the flying saucers is no longer a mystery. The source is already known but any information about this is being withheld by orders from a higher source. We would like to print the full story in Space Review but because of the nature of the information we have been advised in the negative. We advise those engaged in saucer work to be very cautious. Source Here
Out of this admittedly small collection, there are a couple points that I noticed. They all happened years ago, and a couple incidents are near water. Now that's not a big deal, and because of my limited examples, I can't make a big deal out of it. But.

Do we have Extraterrestrials under water?

The Tic Tac video. That sure got...barely any attention. Strange, right? Almost like everyone is being conditioned to accept news like that as normal. As though our natural born instincts are being dulled. Because real or not, come on, this is a modern day spotting a sabretooth tiger moment, and we don't think it's a big enough declaration to have it on our radar? Really? Ok. Sure. But. If very few people are talking about that incident, they are really not talking about something else Farvor said.
“They reverse the winch and the diver’s thinking, ‘What the hell is going on?’ And all of a sudden he said the torpedo just got sucked down underwater, and the object just descended back down into the depths. They never recovered it.” The helicopter pilot swears the torpedo didn’t sink, per Fravor—and that pilot even told the Times about the incident back in 2017, but the paper never reported it. We’re guessing the editors would reconsider today. As the pilot picked up the BQM, he was apparently at a loss for words. “He’s looking at this thing going, ‘What the hell is that?’ And then it just goes back down underwater. Once they pull the kid and the BQM out of the water, this object descends back into the depths.” One dark mass coming up from the depths is weird enough. Two is officially cause for concern. A few months later, the helicopter pilot saw the exact same thing.
“He’s out picking up a torpedo, they hook the diver up on the winch, and as they’re lowering him down, he sees this big mass. He goes, ‘It’s not a submarine’. He’s seen submarines before. Once you’ve seen a submarine you can’t confuse it with something else. This big object, kind of circular, is coming up from the depths and he starts screaming through the intercom system to tell them to pull the diver up, and the diver’s only a few feet from the water. Source Here
It's a little more common knowledge now, but it definitely wasn't back then. And if we go over to the Russians (apparently, thanks New Normal Fake News for the constant barrage of disinformation) and what they released.
2009 • Russian Navy Declassifies Cold War Close Encounters. Great catch by Phil Ewing at Navy Times‘ Scoop Deck blog: the Russian navy has just declassified its records of Cold War UFO sightings. Turns out “50 percent of UFO encounters are connected with oceans. Fifteen [percent] more — with lakes. So UFOs tend to stick to the water,” one Russian officer explained. Source Here
So now we have Russia and the USA reporting about UFO sightings. And the wall fell just a few short years after Gorbachev and Reagan decided to talk about UFO's and world peace in 1985. So now let's go back to 1984.
Conspiracy theorists believe that the closing ceremony from the 1984 Olympic Games ‘prepared the world for an alien invasion’ The bizarre closing ceremony at the Los Angeles Games raised eyebrows at the time, but alien enthusiasts still claim that the Olympic event had a more sinister purpose. Source Here
Whelp. What. Was. That? Seriously? And then we had the music from Space Odyssey 2001 playing. Kind of coincidental with all of our current Monoliths and signals from Jupiter, isn't it? Flatten the Curve. Part [Source Here]( And here's the crazy aspect, I found that 1984 Olympics clip after noticing our current events invoking themes from the movie.
1984 NY Times • The public hearing was plodding along routinely at the Town Hall one night last month. ''All of a sudden, a cop burst in yelling: 'The U.F.O.'s here! The U.F.O.'s here!' '' said Peter A. Brandenberg, a 43-year-old real-estate developer. ''Everyone jumped up and jolted out. We went flying down the stairs to see this thing, just staring at it.'' On a night before that, William A. Pollard was driving along Interstate 84 near Brewster. 'Whoa! Wait a Minute Here' ''My neighbors said they had seen something,'' said Mr. Pollard, 29, the manager of an automobile service center. ''I said, 'Yeah, yeah, yeah.' I never believed in that stuff. But off in a field I saw this gigantic triangle with lights, about 30 feet off the ground - hovering. Then it turned off its lights and shot straight up - straight up. That's when I said, 'Whoa! Wait a minute here.' '' Throughout northern Westchester County, Dutchess and Putnam Counties and western Connecticut this summer, thousands of residents have reported strange objects in the sky - each usually in a V-shape or a circle, about the size of a football field, absolutely noiseless and outlined in brilliant lights of white, red or green. Source Here
And there are more prominent UFO reports in 1984. So let's get this straight. We have major sightings in 1984 and then we have a UFO show at the 1984 Olympics. Ok. But then we have Jimmy Carter in 1976.
During the 1976 presidential campaign, Carter pledged that, if elected, he would encourage the government to make public “every piece of information” about UFOs. Once in office, however, he said releasing some of this information could have adverse “defense implications” and pose a threat to national security. Source Here
And then next year we have Close Encounters of the Third Kind in 1977. And then Spielberg goes on to direct ET in 1982. My point? There seems to be a previous attempt to make Aliens look pretty benign and altruistic. That was followed up by the Summer Olympics UFO show, which honestly makes no sense at all. In the slightest. Not back then. Because unlike now, only crackpots and Conspiracy theorists believed in Aliens. So why the show? Was this a coordinated attempt to get us ready or to deceive us, because I find it hard to believe that the President of the United States in 1985 just blurted out UFO in 1985 as a metaphor.
Let's keep digging and see if we can find more water.

Missing 411

What is that doing in here when we're talking about UFO's? Good question, let me show you.
They are clustered in certain areas, particularly around bodies of water and in national parks. If the people are found alive, they often have memory loss. If they are found dead, the cause of death is hard to determine. The people are sometimes found in an area it seems they could not have reached by foot, or they are found in a location that has already been thoroughly searched. Source Here
Memory loss. Bodies of water. The authorities don't keep a tally of missing people. Dive into it, because something strange is going on, and ot sounds just like an alien abduction would. Are the 411 cases dealing with extraterrestrial incidents? Food for thought, because we're about to go off the deep end. Ready?

Enders Game and the Three Body Problem

A while back I shared a photo of Rita Wilson that caught my attention. It was a picture of her reading, Enders Game. Source Here
And Enders game just so happens to be a novel about humanity waging a war with Aliens. And the picture was oddly getting a lot of traction, HEY LOOK AT THIS PICTURE!
Now let's go into the Dark Forest.
What are some of those books? It’s interesting, the stuff I read just to escape ends up being a mix of things — some science fiction. For a while, there was a three-volume science-fiction novel, the “Three-Body Problem” series — Oh, Liu Cixin, who won the Hugo Award. — which was just wildly imaginative, really interesting. It wasn’t so much sort of character studies as it was just this sweeping — It’s really about the fate of the universe. Exactly. The scope of it was immense. So that was fun to read, partly because my day-to-day problems with Congress seem fairly petty — not something to worry about. Aliens are about to invade. [Laughter] Source Here
When Aliens are about to invade. Ha. Ha. Ha. Pretty funny. Right. But then it gets stranger, because it's not just Obama, but our other favorite alien, Mark Zuckerberg.

When Obama and Zuckerberg are your fan boys: On Cixin Liu’s ‘Remembrance of Earth’s Past’ Trilogy

In his Remembrance of Earth’s Past series, Liu doesn’t value this idea enough to even pay it lip service. Organizing earth for a centuries-long project of developing the tools to fight a coming invasion is, in his telling, work exclusively reserved for large planning committees of technical experts given global mandates and staggering resources. In short, it’s a job only properly suited for the nascent technocratic class that has held increasing sway in our world in the last ~30–40 years (and which Liu himself, as a computer engineer in China, is tacitly a part of). The humanity presented within these books is a humanity of government conferences, scientific laboratories and U.N. resolutions. It’s a humanity that is contained and constrained utterly within a world of technical and logistical problem solving. In short, the humanity presented in these books is purely that of a technocratic elite. We live in an age in which the gap between those with technical skills and those without is widening. Our ideas of affluence and upward mobility are increasingly colored not simply by who possesses wealth, but also by who possesses specific types of knowledge and skills. Cixin Liu has written a remarkable science fiction epic which also, perhaps unknowingly, serves as a warning. A world in which a globally empowered technocratic class controls everything is a world that can achieve remarkable outcomes. But it is, by its very nature, a sterile world; one in which the overwhelming majority of human life and experience is a mere afterthought in a plenary session. Source Here
Take note of two things; The title of the series and the theme of the Technocrats saving humanity.
Now. Here are some Stanger Things that I've noticed.
One • Tom and Rita Wilson, Zuckerbuffon, and Obama love to have their picture taken in the water. As in, they we're all prominently featured recently. Zuckerberg
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson
Obama
Could they all just be innocent photos. Yes. Are they? More than likely, yes. But, what if they're signals for people who understand? After all, you don't want that kind of information written down, do you? But why Tom Hanks? Fracked if I know! But his appearance in all this crap just doesn't stop. Now he's appearing with Biden at the inauguration? Really? I mean Zuckerberg looks alien, so maybe Tom is too! Just joking (I think). I honestly have no idea why the Bosom Buddy is right into this New Normal.
But.
Darkforest is a computer go program developed by Facebook, based on deep learning techniques using a convolutional neural network. Its updated version Darkfores2 combines the techniques of its predecessor with Monte Carlo tree search. The MCTS effectively takes tree search methods commonly seen in computer chess programs and randomizes them. With the update, the system is known as Darkfmcts3. Source Here
Ok. We know that Zuckerdork loves the novel. Sure. But he loves it enough to name his AI computer after the book? Words matter. A lot. And while this is all just probably a coincidence, what if it isn't? All the reports about underwater objects. All the photos of the three of them in the ocean. Facebook’s AI being called the Dark Forest. The monoliths that are striking me as more than a natural occurrence. The UFO around the sun during the 2012 solar flare? The sudden surge to protect the energy grid? The sulfur reports and the early reports of smell around UFO activity? All the recent reports about drones being casually dismissed as nothing.
Observations of mysterious drones spotted in northeastern Colorado and western Nebraska were first reported in December 2019.[1] The drones were described as having blinking lights and a wingspan of about six feet (1.8 m). According to the Denver Post, the drones flew in groups of six to 10 and were usually seen between 7 and 10 pm. The sheriff of Phillips County, Colorado described the formation as "a grid search" and stated that the size and number of drones makes it unlikely that they are being operated by hobbyists. One witness in Palisade, Nebraska counted 19 drones at one time, some hovering and others flying in formations in small groups. Source Here
Look. Something is going on these days. Something big. What? Now that's the big question, isn’t it?
Could all the posturing about war be about moving military units around? What about the environmental catastrophe they keep moving closer, not to mention the amount of prominent scientists who claim the numbers aren't adding up for them, including Freeman Dyson.
Freeman Dyson was a physics professor known for his work in the area of electrodynamics. Dyson formerly worked as a professor of physics at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. He passed away at 96 years old in February 2020. According to Dyson's profile at the Institute for Advanced Study, “His most useful contribution to science was the unification of the three versions of quantum electrodynamics invented by Feynman, Schwinger and Tomonaga. Cornell University made him a professor without bothering about his lack of Ph.D.” Source Here
You know, the guy who came up with the concept of the Dyson sphere.
So if the numbers aren't adding up, but the military is making operational strategy changes to cope with abrupt climate change, something is obviously happening, isn't it? The military doesn't just institute changes for nothing. So is the environment being manipulated bu outside entities? Is that why they're suddenly worried about the power grid?
And what about the by now obvious Covid-19 deaths that are predominantly among seniors. Is it to clean out the hospitals for the upcoming encounter? Before you say no, just remember that a no regrets strategy was actually proposed in a military scenario paper on abrupt climate change.
Here's the definition:
No-Regrets" Approach: "No-regrets" actions are actions by households, communities, and local/national/international institutions that can be justified from economic, and social, and environmental perspectives whether natural hazard events or climate change (or other hazards) take place or not. "No-regrets" actions increase resilience, which is the ability of a "system" to deal with different types of hazards in a timely, efficient, and equitable manner. Increasing resilience is the basis for sustainable growth in a world of multiple hazards (see Heltberg, Siegel, Jorgensen, 2009; UNDP, 2010).
If you would like to read the paper, I do have it linked on Flatten the Curve under Peter Schwartz.
Is this what were seeing? A no regrets approach in action in anticipation of first contact? Is this what they mean by the New Normal? Is this why they're trying to establish a one world government? So we can work together to get ready? Is this why there's an overflow of informational leaks like Moloch worshipers, or Russian Fake News, and on and on. Is it to keep us off balance from the real threat? And could they be so advanced that they're attempting to circumvent our progress through manipulating our planet? Is this why we have so many nukes? Is this why they want to weaponize space?
I'm not saying that my running hypothesis has changed, but I am saying that looking at events from a different perspective can only help. And seriously, right now, I would be lying if I didn't admit that I would be relieved if they weren't a bunch of psychopathic greedy AI loving nutjobs. Which I still think they are, because even if Mars Attacks, or we have War of the Worlds, or Independence Day, I'll still have to see them face to face. Why. One word. Deepfake.
So let's consider a few points before I sign off. We have sulfur reports. Early reports linking sulfur to the UFO phenomenon. An increase in UFO reports. The government disclosing incident reports. Warnings about a possible grid failure through cyberattack or solar flare. Abrupt Climate Change. A No Regrets Strategy for Climate Change. A virus that seems to hit those who would be the biggest burden on the health care system. A worldwide hum and Sky Trumpets. The Pentagon commissioning reports about riot control and then funding training into underground warfare. And we have reports about underwater UFO's and older Conspiracy theories about Aliens living underground.
So, real or fake, I don't think we should discount the possibility that something may occur that could just knock the world's perception of reality.
And trust me, I still don't believe this is likely. Why? Well I find it pretty coincidental that H.G. Wells not only wrote War of the Worlds, but he also wrote a book called New World Order. And he also collaborated with Julian S. Huxley, a known eugenics supporter and brother of Aldous Huxley of a Brave New World fame.
Alright, long story short, I'm not saying it's aliens, but it's....yeah. Buckle up and just be ready, because if our New Normal is based on a No Regrets Strategy, our strategy has to become a No Trust Strategy.
Heads up and eyes open. Talk soon.

2 National Guard members removed from Biden inauguration security after ties found to militia group

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 46%. (I'm a bot)
WASHINGTON - Two U.S. Army National Guard members are being removed from the security mission to secure Joe Biden's presidential inauguration.
A U.S. Army official and a senior U.S. intelligence official say the two National Guard members have been found to have ties to fringe right group militias.
Contacted by the AP on Tuesday, the National Guard Bureau referred questions to the U.S. Secret Service and said, "Due to operational security, we do not discuss the process nor the outcome of the vetting process for military members supporting the inauguration."
The Secret Service told the AP on Monday it would not comment on if any National Guard members had been pulled from securing the inauguration for operational security reasons.
U.S. Secret Service tightened security in and around the Capitol a week early in preparation, and the city center is essentially on lockdown with streets blocked, high fencing installed and tens of thousands of National Guard and other law enforcement officers stationed around the area.
U.S. defense officials, worried about a potential insider attack or other threat from service members involved in securing the event, pushed the FBI to vet all of the 25,000 National Guard troops coming into the area.

Lost in the Sauce: Trump's smear campaign fizzles out

Welcome to Lost in the Sauce, keeping you caught up on political and legal news that often gets buried in distractions and theater… or a global health crisis.
Housekeeping:

Trump’s hit job fizzles

Emails and photos purportedly belonging to Hunter Biden were circulating in Ukraine last year at the same time that Rudy Giuliani was in the country searching for dirt on Joe Biden. Two people said they were approached with Hunter’s alleged emails, first in May 2019 and second in September 2019.
Giuliani’s former business partner, Lev Parnas, separately told Politico that Giuliani was offered the photos and emails in May 2019 by an associate of Burisma founder Mykola Zlochevsky, who wanted to curry favor with the Trump administration.
Parnas said Giuliani was eager to get the information from Zlochevsky...Ultimately, Giuliani was not satisfied with the answers he got back on July 7, 2019. Asked, for example, whether Joe Biden, while vice president, had ever assisted Zlochevsky or Burisma “in any way with business deals or meetings with world leaders or any other assistance,” Zlochevsky replied curtly: “No.”
Giuliani and Parnas were told former Burisma CFO Alexander Gorbunenko - among numerous others - also had access to the material Giuliani was seeking. However, the day Giuliani was scheduled to meet with Gorbunenko and get “a package of information” from him on Hunter Biden, Parnas was arrested.
  • Reminder: Russian military hackers infiltrated Burisma’s servers in Winter 2019, when talk of Ukraine, the Bidens, and impeachment were making headlines in the U.S.
Trump’s hit job to be published in the Wall Street Journal resulted in the opposite of his desired findings: Joe Biden had “no role” in Hunter Biden’s business dealings. White House lawyer Eric Herschmann and former deputy White House counsel Stefan Passantino gave WSJ documents from a former business partner of Hunter Biden’s named Tony Bobulinski. Trump even invited Bobulinski to the debate last week, in the hopes of generating buzz.
More on the Biden narratives:
  • John Paul Mac Isaac, a computer repairman from Delaware, actively tried to push the story of the Hunter Biden laptops into the press after contacting the FBI. Eventually, Mac Isaac connected with Ken LaCorte, a former Fox News executive who effectively killed a story about the hush money deal between Stormy Daniels and Donald Trump in 2016.
  • Associates of Steve Bannon are pushing child abuse rumors in their attempt to “Pizzagate” Joe Biden.
  • Intelligence Experts Suspicious of DNI Ratcliffe On Laptop Story. The chief of the U.S. intelligence community appeared to pre-judge the conclusions of an active FBI investigation.

More interference

DNI John Ratcliffe gave a last-minute announcement alongside FBI Director Christopher Wray that both Russia and Iran have tried to interfere in the election. “We have confirmed that some voter registration information has been obtained by Iran, and separately, by Russia,” Ratcliffe said. However, Ratcliffe chose to emphasize the role of Iran, accusing the nation of trying to harm President Trump’s chances at re-election with spoofed emails purported to be from the Proud Boys.
  • Russia poses a bigger election threat than Iran, many U.S. officials say.
Ratcliffe was joined by FBI Director Christopher Wray, who did not speak about any specific actions or nations. Instead, Wray sought to reassure the public that the FBI and intelligence communities were working to ensure the legitimacy of the election. Wray’s continued refusal to assist in Trump’s re-election gambits has put him in Trump’s crosshairs - should he win re-election, Trump plans on “immediately” firing Wray. Also on the chopping block are CIA Director Gina Haspel and Defense Secretary Mark Esper.
Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer, who received a classified briefing on Wednesday afternoon on election security, said he disagreed with Ratcliffe that Iran was specifically trying to hurt Trump. “It was clear to me that the intent of Iran in this case and Russia in many more cases is to basically undermine confidence in our elections. This action I do not believe was aimed ... at discrediting President Trump,” Schumer said.
The Trump administration has known for weeks that Iran and Russia had hacked local governments and obtained voter registration and other personal data. In a technical alert issued Thursday, the FBI and the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency said that hackers working for the Russian government had broken into several local government networks and that as of the beginning of October had stolen data from at least two of them.

Courts and DOJ

A three-judge District Court panel in California barred the Census Bureau from giving the White House a count of the nation’s unauthorized immigrants. Trump ordered the bureau in July to give him a state-by-state count of people living in the United States without authorization, saying he planned to subtract them from the 2020 census totals that will be used to divvy up House seats among the states next year.
  • Last month a different three-judge panel in federal district court in Manhattan also unanimously rejected Trump’s plan. The case has already been appealed to the Supreme Court, which will have a 6-3 conservative majority. The Supreme Court also recently ruled in Trump’s favor on a different Census issue, allowing the administration to cut the count short by roughly 15 days.
Ken Kurson, a friend Jared Kushner and an associate of Rudy Giuliani, was arrested Friday by the FBI and charged with a "pattern of stalking and harassment against three victims.” Two years ago, the Trump administration offered Kurson a seat on the board of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Major Republican Party and Trump fundraiser Elliott Broidy pleaded guilty Tuesday to acting as an unregistered foreign agent, admitting to accepting millions of dollars to secretly lobby the Trump administration for Malaysian and Chinese interests.
NYC, Seattle, and Portland sued the Trump administration for declaring the cities “anarchist jurisdictions” and pulling federal funds. The “anarchist jurisdiction” designation came after Trump ordered the DOJ to identify cities that, in his view, were not responding aggressively enough to protests and crime.
The Mississippi attorney general petitioned the Supreme Court again on Thursday to review the state's 15-week abortion ban, a case that directly challenges Roe v. Wade. Mississippi's petition comes as the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court is all but guaranteed.
Finding that state officials have acted with “deliberate indifference” to the health of prisoners at San Quentin — where 75% of them have tested positive for the coronavirus and 28 have died — a state appeals court took the unprecedented step Tuesday of ordering at least half of the prison’s 2,900 inmates transferred or released.

Funny business

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy's former company landed a $5 million highway-shipping contract last month with the United States Postal Service. The contract was negotiated in August and disclosed in mid-October. Around the time it was disclosed, DeJoy belatedly agreed to divest his interest in the company, XPO Logistics.
White House chief of staff Mark Meadows reported spending almost $75,000 through his campaign and leadership PAC on what appear to be personal expenses, after announcing he would not run for re-election in his North Carolina congressional seat. The expenses include gourmet cupcakes, a cell phone bill, grocery purchases, lavish meals, thousands of dollars at a Washington jeweler, and lodging at the Trump International Hotel.
Sen. Ron Johnson began the process of selling a company he partly owned in February 2018, just months after he insisted the Trump administration change a portion of the tax law in a way that ultimately benefited the sale. At the end of 2017, Johnson refused to vote for Trump’s tax bill unless it provided better treatment for “pass-through” entities. The bill was changed in such a way that increased the value of pass-through entities in order to gain Johnson’s vote. Four months later, Johnson sold his stock in his own pass-through company, generating profits of as much as $25m on the sale.
Watchdog group CREW is concerned that Mitch McConnell is slow-walking the confirmation of the inspector general in charge of investigating his wife. It’s been more than eight months since the Dept. of Transportation, led by Elaine Chao, has had a permanent IG. A Trump political appointee previously vetted by McConnell is currently leading the office, after Trump removed the previous acting IG Mitch Behm.
  • Chao is accused of favoring McConnell’s home state of Kentucky in awarding lucrative grants and assisting McConnell’s allies in advancing their careers.

Miscellaneous

Trump: A New York Times report revealed that Trump paid almost $200,000 in taxes to China, where he still maintains a bank account and spent years pursuing business deals – a potentially major conflict of interest for a president who has fought both of his election campaigns on a promise to stand up to Beijing. During that time frame, Trump paid no personal income tax to the IRS.
Trump: The Trump Organization re-registered the domain name TrumpTowerMoscow.com this June, as it has done every year of his presidency, suggesting that the company has not necessarily abandoned its hopes for a real estate deal in Russia.
Immigration: ICE officers allegedly tortured Cameroonian asylum seekers to force them to sign their own deportation orders, in what lawyers and activists describe as a brutal scramble to fly African migrants out of the country in the run-up to the elections. According to multiple accounts, detainees were threatened, choked, beaten, pepper-sprayed and threatened with more violence to make them sign.
Immigration: Since 2017, at least 265 calls made to police through 911 and nonemergency lines have reported violence and abuse inside California’s four privately run federal detention centers overseen by ICE. California law enforcement turned a blind eye: In only three cases in which detainees said they were victimized did records show a suspect was charged; in two of those, the suspects were deported before they could be arrested.
Immigration: In Thursday's debate, Trump said his administration is "working very hard" to reunite migrant parents and kids they forcibly separated (clip). But pro bono advocacy groups say the Trump administration is only now offering assistance because of the "backlash" over reports about the number of kids still awaiting reunification with their parents.
Lee Gelernt, deputy director of the American Civil Liberties Union's Immigrants' Rights Project, said Thursday's offer to help was "a PR move in response to the public's backlash." "There have never been serious specific offers to help in concrete ways in the past," Gelernt told NBC News.
  • Trump also tried to claim at the debate that the separated children are “so well taken care of” in “facilities that were so clean” (clip). However, DHS inspectors that visited border facilities last year found adults and minors with no access to showers; little access to hot showers or hot food for families and children in some facilities; overcrowding; some kids held in closed cells.
Immigration: Newly-obtained documents reveal that after Congress mandated that ICE decrease its detention population in February 2019, the agency spent more than $20 million on new contracts to fund multiple prisons in Louisiana. Much of the money appears to be going to LaSalle Corrections, a private prison company quickly gaining notoriety for horrific human rights abuses.
Environment: The Trump administration has relaunched long-delayed plans to conduct a seismic survey in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska as a prelude to drilling for oil there. The Bureau of Land Management on Friday released a proposal to begin a seismic survey in December, a move that environmental groups say would permanently harm the delicate Arctic tundra and affect polar bears and other wildlife.

TrueAnon Library

I'm sure we are all familiar with the semi-weekly threads looking for recommendations of books on "X" TrueAnon-related topic. I decided go scrounging through all of the past threads to compile a list of non-fiction titles that have been explicitly referenced on the show or have been recommended by users of this subreddit. My hope is that we can direct newly interested people to this list to help guide them in their research. I've broken the list into sections based on subject and listed books in the section relevant to their primary subject. Basically half the books on this list touch on the CIA somehow but it would not be particularly useful to list them all under that heading. I've done my best to categorize books based on the title, description, and the thread in which the book was recommended but I'm sure I've made mistakes. Please let me know if you think a book should be re-categorized or needs different subjects. This list is far from complete and I would love to expand it further. I am planning to go back through the podcast starting from the first episode in order to ensure we don't miss any recommended/referenced titles but if you know of a title that I've missed or the episode in which a title is referenced, let me know. Most importantly, let me know if I have included a title that is demonstrably false or contains significant amounts of disinformation; I haven't been able to read every single title so I also have not been able to vet every title. Do not let me know if you think I should remove a title from the list because the author subscribes to a particular political tendency that you disagree with.
Remember to always read critically and double check sources, ESPECIALLY for information you find compelling or convincing!
Citation Format:
Nazis, prewar and postwar / "The Spider Network" / Fascist Internationale
GLADIO / The Years of Lead / Post-war Italy
9/11
The Kennedy Assassinations
US Elites / American Crime
The CIA
The FBI
American Empire / US Intelligence Services (non-specific)
Finance / Economics / Money Networks
Political Theory / Critique
General Histories
Epstein, Maxwells, and Co.
Silicon Valley / Technology / Cyber Warfare
The Occult / Magick
UFOs
Healthcare / Medical History
Fiction (recommended on the podcast)
Misc
Right Wing / Reactionary Thought
CAVEAT: The inclusion of these titles on this list should not, in any way, be construed as an endorsement of their content or ideas. Rather, they have been included with the premise that it is important to understand, or at least be able to recognize, right wing and reactionary ideas in order to better combat them.
Some important advice from the comment where many of these titles were suggested:
"It helps to understand what the right believes and how they got there, but definitely be cautious with their books. Have someone to talk about it with so you can avoid getting sucked in."
I am sure that any user on this subreddit would be more than happy to talk with you about why the authors listed below are full of shit and/or complete psychos.

[Event] The First Nigerian Purge

President Adeoun’s agenda is vast, spanning across the entire spectrum of political issues. Nigeria must be stabilized. Criminal elements within Nigerian society must be dealt with. Traitors to Nigeria (tribals, Islamic extremists, and separatists) must be destroyed. The rebirth of Nigeria awaits!
The first act of the new government is to consolidate control over the governmental apparatus. The Government Bureaucratic Reform Act sailed past the National Assembly in a day giving President Adeoun ultimate authority on all hirings and firings within the government. Anyone in government may be fired for no reason with no recourse to appeal. On the flip side of the coin, the President may create new agencies or ministries at will without consultation with full authority over hiring. With the new law enacted, Adeoun has wasted no time at all in purging over half of all Nigeria’s ministries. With already created lists of anti-Foundation and pro-democracy government employees, hundreds of thousands have been turned out of work and replaced by loyalist Foundation members that stand willing to carry out whatever President Adeoun wishes. Powerful anti-Party leaders within the government and especially the military have so far been able to protect themselves and their factions from being removed but their time will come once the initial purge concludes. Apolitical, authoritarian, or nonpartisan bureaucrats have been allowed to continue in their duties to maintain a modicum of stability in a sea of change; merit is to be promoted under Adeoun as long as those possessing of merit are loyal to the government and more importantly, to President Adeoun.
Ministries partially purged:
Commissions partially purged:
This is just the beginning of the total reorganization of Nigeria’s government. Adeoun intends to streamline the entire bureaucracy, abolishing ministries and commissions that are unnecessary in a modern Nigeria (whilst indicating what parts of Nigeria are no longer important in one controlled by the Foundation), along with implementing much stronger top-down control to fight against corruption and maintain the power of the government against remaining anti-Party elements within the government. The Ministry of Discipline is the primary example of the control Adeoun has imposed on the government and is quickly becoming his favored ministry for its unconditional loyalty to the mission of the Party. Because of its recent formation and near unlimited power, the Ministry of Discipline is the only Nigerian ministry majority staffed by the Foundation. It has absorbed the Code of Conduct Bureau, Auditor-General, Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, Public Complaints Commission, and Federal Character Commission and been given the duty to root out dissent and corruption within Nigeria’s government at any cost. Although at the current moment, all it has are inspection teams with unlimited access anywhere in government, President Adeoun plans on strengthening it even further with its own paramilitary force and judicial system.
Already, there are constitutional and legal challenges that strike at every part of the Government Bureaucratic Reform Act. Arguments include that it was not considered enough in the National Assembly, that it gives the president extraconstitutional authority that usurps power from the legislative branch in violation of separation of powers, that politically motivated firings are illegal, that the new employment rules violate labor laws, and that rapid hirings without vetting violate government competency laws. Interestingly enough, many of these lawsuits have been filed by lawyers aligned with the Foundation. Although it is clear that the Act is not legal or constitutional based on the letter of the law, the Supreme Court will have to tread very carefully here. It is obvious that President Adeoun is removing every barrier to his power as swiftly as possible; if the Supreme Court rules against the new administration, it is highly possible that military or Adamant forces will simply remove the Supreme Court from power and President Adeoun will either appoint new justices or just abolish the court as a whole meaning the Supreme Court may decide to preserve its power for as long as possible by going against its constitutional duty to be a check on the executive branch. Normally, vast protests would spring up in the streets of Nigeria but the suffocating presence of military and Foundation forces under martial law and the fear of Boko Haram has kept even the newly unemployed from daring to publicly demonstrate against the regime.

Trump's disparagement of the military has a long history beyond his ignorant and hurtful comments. Trump has deliberately and purposefully harmed veterans through his policies and actions while in office (list compiled by Cathy Herman-Harsch)

• In May 2020, the White House ended National Guard deployments one day before they could claim benefits
• The Trump admin seized 5 million masks intended for VA hospitals. Kushner distributes these masks to private entities for a fee, who then sells the masks to the government
• Trump fired the captain of the USS Theodore Roosevelt after he warned superiors that COVID19 was spreading among his crew. The virus subsequently spread amongst the crew.
• After Iran's retaliatory strike, 109 US troops suffered brain injuries. Trump dismissed these as "headaches"
• Pardoned multiple war criminals, which stomped on long standing military values, discipline, and command. Trump has no military experience (May&Nov, 2019)

"They had no experience in veterans affairs (none of them even served in the military) nor underwent any kind of approval process to serve as de facto managers. Yet, with Trump’s approval, they directed actions and criticized operations without any oversight. They wasted valuable staff time in hundreds of pages of communications and meetings, emails show. Emails reveal disdainful attitudes within the department to the trio’s meddling."

• He sent commandos into an ambush due to a lack of intel, and sends contractors to pick them up, resulting in a commando being left behind, tortured, and executed. (Trump approved the mission because Bannon told him Obama didn't have the guts to do it) (Oct 4, 2017)

• Trump accepted a Purple Heart from a fan at one of his rallies and said: “I always wanted to get the Purple Heart. This was much easier.” (Aug 2, 2016)
• Trump attacks Gold Star families: Myeshia Johnson (gold star widow), Khan family (gold star parents) etc. (2016-present)
• Trump sent funds raised from a Jan 2016 veterans benefit to the Donald J Trump Foundation instead of veterans charities (the foundation has since been ordered shut because of fraud) (Jan, 2016)
• Trump said he has "more training militarily than a lot of the guys that go into the military" because he went to a military-style academy (2015 biography)
• Trump said he doesn't consider POWs heroes because they were caught. He said he prefers people who were not caught (July 18, 2015)
• Trump said having unprotected sex was his own personal Vietnam (1998)
• For a decade, Trump sought to kick veterans off of Fifth Avenue because he found them unsightly nuisances outside of Trump Tower. (1991)
• Trump dodged the draft 5 times by having a doctor diagnose him with bone spurs.
• No Trump in America has ever served in the military; this spans 5 generations, and every branch of the family tree. In fact, the reason his grandfather immigrated to America was to avoid military service.

CMV: The US Should Grant Asylum to More Refugees

I will take my case from three basis, first from virtue (why we ought to do it from a moral standpoint), second from results (what is occurring because we are accepting refugees), and third from reasoning details (what would happen if we tried to enforce denial of refugees).
I. Humanitarianism
Refugees are in such trouble in dangerous territories. These terrorists, these wars, they are not allowing refugees to speak or move freely. Indeed, we hear of America, the land of the free, home of the brave. They have been the number one in helping victims live their lives, giving them another chance.
But what's the contradictory pattern in research? It seems that President Trump has stood by his discrimination, and failed to uphold the very idea of the United States leading the world in helping people. They have already established an act in congress [1], taken the responsibility to take in people, who are in danger and life-threatening situations. The Senate's unanimous consent on said act goes far to highlight the importance of human life, and the power of the US to accept refugees.
As the very virtues of the words on the Statue of Liberty, how can we go back on our promise as "land of the refuge"?
"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" [7]
To stop the process and principles in the middle out of nowhere seems strange and illogical. This would require such a massive revolution that it would be near impossible to support. Urban.org words the case extremely well, noting from the definition of refugee, that refugees differ from immigrants in the cause (though not effect):
...refugees come here seeking safety and refuge from violence, torture, or persecution. They do not voluntarily choose to migrate but are forced to leave their home countries because of circumstances outside their control. After being forced from their home countries, refugees usually experience a long period of displacement in refugee camps or other vulnerable conditions while they go through an exhaustive vetting process in applying and waiting for permanent resettlement. [5]
Due to the value of human life, and the ideals that construct the basis of America, the premise can be won merely on this point alone. Even if Con could miraculously flip point II and III, he would have to prove that the destruction is so severe that it is equivalent to negating our act from congress, and the ideals of freedom and acceptance from America.
II. Economics
a) Jobs
A lot of Americans complain, we come to steal their jobs, but refugees encourage you to work harder, with greater competition at hand. Refugees provide a strong backbone of the economy, as well. The involvement of refugees gives extra motivation, resulting in a better work force in America. As one study notes, "refugee-country immigrants spurred significant occupational mobility and increased specialization into complex jobs, using more intensively analytical and communication skills and less intensively manual skills." [2] With over 95% confidence and a positive correlation over 13 years, the study makes it apparent that we definitively boost the US economy, causing a win-win situation.
b) Business
Indeed, not only do refugee workers thrive, the entrepreneurship works excellently. The start-ups differ from taking jobs as there may be limited demand for workers, while the demand for companies may never end, with more and more customers and fields to satisfy. One article from HBR carefully analyzes this relation, noting the pattern: ", in total, 35%-40% of new firms have at least one immigrant entrepreneur connected to the firm’s creation." Through data crunching through the Census Bureau, they conclude that the businesses of immigrants are no worse than those of natives. Not only so, "firms created by immigrants who have grown up in the U.S. are generally associated with better outcomes, in terms of lower closure rates and higher representation among larger firms." [3] The contribution to the economy and exchange of money will allow the resulting finance to boom as a result.
c) Trade
The mere export of immigrants can provide many benefits to overall trade between countries. It has been agreed that there is a definite positive correlation between the refugee/immigrant to the effects of trade. One study clarifies that it has been able to find a reasonable cause as well. Firstly, statistics note " a 10% increase in the Vietnamese network raises the ratio of exports to Vietnam over GDP by 2% and the share of total exports going to Vietnam by 1.5%". [4] Next, the study finds that people's motivations are inherently related to them establishing businesses. The ties to their formal nation allow us to foster the trade, with the undeniable link between countries.
III. Legality Impact
If con advocates for the same or a lesser amount of refugees, he agrees with Donald Trump's executive order, as it is the status quo. But this is impossible to enforce on a legal level. Already, states have rebelled in recent events. "The vast majority of U.S. governors, Republican and Democrat alike, have affirmed their support for continued refugee resettlement". [6] The mayors and those in power on the local level are already observing their beliefs. They see how immigrants and refugees contribute to the job force. What would you say to them to dissuade them?
Because we already established the resettlement groups and the people to enforce these ideals, the loss on our side is immense if we continue to support Trump's executive order. The same site highlights the context: "But because of decreasing arrivals since 2017, these agencies have been forced to shutter more and more offices each year. As of June 2019, refugee resettlement agencies had closed 51 programs and suspended resettlement services in 41 offices across 23 states." The effect then follows as such: "These reductions have meant serious cuts to personnel, losing valuable expertise on issues important for successful resettlement, including trauma care, housing assistance, and job placement." With the lose-lose impact of cutting back further on refugees, I'm simply not seeing the Con side.

[Lost in the Sauce] Dems have proof Nunes received package from Kremlin-linked source

Welcome to Lost in the Sauce, keeping you caught up on political and legal news that often gets buried in distractions and theater… or a global health crisis.
Housekeeping:

Foreign interference

Intelligence officials confirmed in recent days that foreign actors are actively seeking to compromise the private communications of “U.S. political campaigns, candidates and other political targets” while working to compromise the nation’s election infrastructure. Foreign entities are also aggressively spreading disinformation intended to sow voter confusion heading into the fall.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer admonished the country’s top counterintelligence official during a classified election security briefing Friday, accusing him of keeping Americans in the dark about the details of Russia’s continued interference in the 2020 campaign.
Evanina ultimately acknowledged that Russia is again trying to boost President Donald Trump’s reelection and denigrate his opponent, the presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden, sources who attended the briefing said. But that didn’t satisfy Democrats, who urged him to say as much publicly — and to be specific...
“What I’m concerned about is that the American people should be better informed,” Pelosi said. “Leader Schumer and I wrote to them and said, ‘tell the truth to the American people,’ and for some reason they are withholding it,” she added. “That’s what I’m concerned about.”
The conflict over intelligence stems from reports that Republicans have accepted propaganda and opposition research from pro-Russian sources… Democrats have identified Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) as the recipients of suspect intel.
Johnson, as chair of the Senate Homeland Security Cmte., has allegedly used information from at least two pro-Russia Ukrainians in his investigation into the Bidens and Burisma. The FBI warned that one of the sources, Andrii Telizhenko, “was a conduit for Russian disinformation about the Bidens.” The second source, Oleksandr Onyshchenko told The Washington Post he had shared tapes and transcripts with Johnson’s committee and Trump ally Rudy Giuliani. Onyshchenko is a former lawmaker in the now-defunct pro-Russia Party of Regions.
Nunes, Ranking Member of the House Intelligence Cmte., allegedly received information about Biden from Andrii Derkach, a Kremlin-linked Ukrainian lawmaker who has worked to foment allegations of corruption by Biden and his son Hunter. Democrats first learned that Derkach sent Nunes anti-Biden materials when they were inadvertently sent the DHL shipping receipt. Democrats reported it to the FBI on Jan. 27. Nunes declined to tell them if he got it or what he did with it.
  • Derkach was schooled at a KGB academy in Moscow and is remembered for voting for a Kremlin-like set of anti-protest laws during Ukrraine’s 2014 political revolution. He told Politico two weeks ago that he sent the anti-Biden packets to then-White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney and notified Johnson (R), Grassley (R), Graham (R), Peters (D), and Wyden (D) about the content of the materials. However, Graham, Grassley, Peters, and Wyden indicated they never received materials from Derkach.

Meanwhile, Trump’s own campaign refused to directly answer whether they are receiving or will accept foreign assistance. Jason Miller, a senior adviser on President Donald Trump's reelection campaign, called it a “silly question.” A Biden spokesman said “absolutely not” when asked if the campaign had received any materials from foreign actors.
“Can you flatly state that the Trump campaign and the administration will not accept foreign assistance this time?” host Chris Wallace pressed Miller in an interview on“Fox News Sunday.”
“Chris, I said that’s an absolutely silly question. We’re going to go and win this election fair and square,” Miller said (video).
Rep. Eliot Engel, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, subpoenaed the State Department demanding copies of documents that Secretary Pompeo has already provided to Senate Republicans investigating Joe Biden.
“After trying to stonewall virtually every oversight effort by the Foreign Affairs Committee in the last two years, Mr. Pompeo is more than happy to help Senate Republicans advance their conspiracy theories about the Bidens,” Engel said in a statement. “I want to see the full record of what the department has sent to the Senate and I want the American people to see it too.”
  • Reminder: Sen. Wyden (D) has been requesting these documents from the State Dept. for months with no success. “To further ignore my requests is at best baseless, and at worst a partisan political act,” Sen. Wyden wrote to Pompeo last month.
An analysis by Just Security found that the State Dept. has likely broken at least two laws by providing assistance only to Republicans, meant to influence the election: It is “highly likely that one or more employees at the State Department has violated federal appropriations law barring the prohibition or prevention of a federal officer communicating with Congress.”
The president’s directive that his administration respond only to requests from Republicans is among the clearest evidence of this abuse of power. At the State Department, this policy has manifested in the agency moving mountains to cooperate with a Senate investigation aimed at damaging Trump’s political opponent while ignoring inquiries from congressional Democrats that could tarnish the president’s own political prospects.
Former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates is scheduled to testify before the Senate Judiciary Cmte. tomorrow morning. Chairman Lindsey Graham is investigating the origins of the Russia probe and the appointment of Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Yates was privy to discussions about Michael Flynn and Carter Page.

Barr and Durham

Attorney General Bill Barr testified before the House Judiciary Committee last week, defending the federal response to nationwide protests and insisting that he intervened in the criminal cases of President Trump’s allies Roger J. Stone Jr. and Michael T. Flynn to uphold the rule of law, not to do Mr. Trump’s bidding.
During the hearing, Barr said he will not wait until after November’s election to release Durham’s findings, despite long-standing Justice Department policy not to announce politically sensitive new cases before an election (video). Former Pentagon Special Counsel Ryan Goodman warns that “there’s every reason to suspect Barr will soon try again to mislead” about the Russia investigation, using Durham’s report, “in an effort to skew the 2020 elections.”
...we’re confident in this: Barr will likely distort those conclusions in a way favorable to President Trump’s political ambitions. That goal seems to have driven Barr’s public anticipation of “developments” from Durham “before the end of the summer” — that is, in time to influence the November election.
Background: Last year, Barr appointed U.S. Attorney John Durham to examine the FBI’s 2016 investigation into President Trump’s campaign.
Reports indicate that Durham’s investigative portfolio has repeatedly expanded and now also extends to leaks viewed as harmful to the start-up of the Trump administration, to the unmasking of Michael Flynn, to activities in Ukraine that almost certainly include alleged activities of Hunter Biden, and, more broadly, to the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC)’s assessment that Russia affirmatively sought to help Trump win the presidency in 2016.

Trump’s grift

Manhattan D.A. Vance suggested in court filings that Trump is under investigation for possible bank and insurance fraud. Vance argues that his subpoena has a wide legal basis due to “public reports of possibly extensive and protracted criminal conduct at the Trump Organization.”
A New York Times investigation two years ago found a trail of phony records used in what the newspaper described as clear fraud. Trump has reportedly collected phony hurricane damages. ProPublica has uncovered massive discrepancies between the figures Trump has given to lenders and the government, portraying himself as rich to the banks and poor to the government, thus defrauding either one or both.
The president released his annual financial disclosure report last week, revealing the Trump Organization made at least $446.3 million in 2019 (up more than 2 percent from $434.9 million, in 2018). The president reported assets worth at least $1.35 billion, down narrowly from 2018 and 2017. Note that the disclosure document is not vetted or audited.
  • Trump takes in a nearly $78,000 pension from the Screen Actors Guild, claims to earn between $100,000 and $1 million from his book "The Art of the Deal," and continues to pull in earnings from the reality show "The Apprentice."
  • In a footnote, the filings indicates that the Office of Government Ethics requested a listing denoting Rudy Giuliani's services as a lawyer for Trump during the impeachment proceedings. "Although we did not believe and do not believe that any pro bono publico counsel is reportable as a 'gift,' at the request of OGE, we note that as has been widely reported in the media, Rudy Giuliani provided such pro bono publico counsel in 2018 and 2019," the footnote reads. "In any event, Mr. Giuliani is not able to estimate the value of that pro bono publico counsel; therefore, the value is unascertainable."
According to their disclosure forms, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner earned between $36.2 and $157 million as they served in the White House last year - a minimum combined income that was at least $7 million higher than in 2018. They reported between $203.8 million and $782.8 million in assets in 2019, compared with 2018, when they reported between $181 million and $755 million.
  • Kushner raked in as much as $3 million from projects benefiting from Trump administration initiatives in 2019, plus up to $1 million more in rent money from firms which later received COVID-related small business loans from the government.
A legal complaint filed Tuesday with the FEC alleges that the Trump campaign and fundraising committee violated the law by laundering nearly $170 million in campaign spending through firms headed by Trump’s former campaign manager, Brad Parscale, and other firms created by Trump campaign lawyers.
The campaign reported millions in payments--American Made and Parscale Strategy—which disbursed the funds to the campaign’s ultimate vendors. Ultimately, this hid millions in payments to companies engaged in significant work for the campaign, as well as payments to Trump family members or associates like Lara Trump and Kimberly Guilfoyle… This secrecy could also disguise other campaign finance violations, but we don’t know, because the campaign isn’t disclosing these routed payments. (CLC)
Deutsche Bank is investigating a real estate transaction involving Jared Kushner… In June 2013, Trump’s longtime personal banker banker, Rosemary Vrablic, and two of her Deutsche Bank colleagues purchased a Park Avenue apartment for about $1.5 million from a company part-owned by Kushner.
  • Further reading: Vrablic played a critical role in helping Trump obtain large loans when he should not have been approved for one.
  • Further reading: As Trump campaigns on law and order, his campaign rallies have racked up nearly $2 million in unpaid police bills.

Congress

The House Foreign Affairs Committee is investigating reports that the U.S. ambassador to Brazil asked for foreign assistance in the election. According to a prominent Brazilian newspaper, Ambassador to Brazil Todd Chapman pressured members of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro’s administration to lower ethanol tariffs in order to support President Donald Trump’s reelection efforts.
The House Foreign Affairs Cmte. subpoenaed four senior aides to Secretary of State Pompeo, accusing them of resisting interviews in an investigation of Trump's firing of State Dept. IG Steve Linick. "The Administration continues to cover up the real reasons for Mr. Linick’s firing by stonewalling the Committees’ investigation and refusing to engage in good faith," top Democrats said in a statement.
The House Oversight Cmte. has asked Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, appointed by Trump in May, to testify on Sept. 17 on changes made to the USPS. “While these changes in a normal year would be drastic, in a presidential election year when many states are relying heavily on absentee mail-in ballots, increases in mail delivery timing would impair the ability of ballots to be received and counted in a timely manner—an unacceptable outcome for a free and fair election,” the Members wrote.
  • RELATED: Trump just told us how mail delays could help him corrupt the election. Trump suggested only the votes that can be tallied on Election Day should count. But with massive mail delays, it is likely many ballots mailed on time will not arrive until after Election Day. Trump is looking to declare himself winner on Election Day, no matter how many mail ballots remain uncounted. He will say they are fraudulent. And if they tip the result against him, he will say that outcome is rigged, something he has already said publicly is inevitable.
Hidden money in relief bill: In addition to including $1.75 billion for a new FBI building in the Republican coronavirus relief bill, the White House wants $377 million to remodel the West Wing. Immigration

The Trump administration announced that it will continue to defy a federal court order compelling the full restoration of DACA. U.S. District Judge Paul Grimm’s order required DHS to let DACA beneficiaries renew their status for two years and to accept new applicants. However, DHS maintained that it would reject new DACA applicants and not accept DACA renewals.
Immigration Nation, the docuseries about ICE that the Trump administration threatened legal action to block, is now available on Netflix. Some of the contentious scenes include ICE officers lying to immigrants to gain access to their homes and mocking them after taking them into custody. One shows an officer illegally picking the lock to an apartment building during a raid.

The Census Bureau is ending all counting efforts for the 2020 census on Sept. 30, a month shorter than previously announced. The Trump administration announced that it would allow the sale of advanced armed drones to other nations and bypass an international weapons export control agreement that the United States helped forge more than three decades ago.
Several Middle Eastern nations, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, are eager to buy drones capable of carrying large payloads. Both those countries have waged a devastating air war in Yemen that has led to thousands of civilian deaths.
Trump is rolling back an Obama-era rule intended to combat historic racial discrimination in housing.
